We are looking for someone to help us develop a number of leaflets and videos that can be used mainly for promotional and/or prayer purposes.
We have a lot of material, but don't really have the time to edit it. The leaflets we have really need translating into different languages (we can translate the text, but the people with the right skills don't have the time (and vice versa) to produce a translated leaflet). It would also be good if some of the leaflets were available in in different sizes (A4, letter, A5 booklet, etc).
Next to leaflets we have a lot of photos and (raw) videos that really could be great for promotional purposes, but needs sorting, editing and putting together.
So we are looking for someone with the skills to edit our media and put them into a form they can be used easily and effectively. In theory this could be done remotely, but it would be good to have someone who would be willing to come to the field. That way it would make it easier for us to be involved in the design process and it would give that person a better feel for what we are doing here. We think that we have enough things to do for someone to work on full time for at least three months, but are very happy for them to come for a longer period of time, it is easy enough to find/create more work in this area.
This is a great chance for the right person to use their skills for the Kingdom and experience what God is doing in some very remote places.
Knowledge of open-source software (e.g. Scribus, Gimp and any open-source video editor) would be helpful, as that would enable us easier to edit things later on, but at the moment even propitiatory software is better than nothing at all.
Retirees, Finishers, Second-Winders outreach to Unreached Peers; "Generation to Generation"
This is a retiree-age Short-term experience with opportunity for sharing a personal testimony as a means of evangelism to an unreached person/people, who is a peer in terms of age and life experience.
No language learning is required because they will accompany an on-site WECer who will act as translator during visits to homes and teahouses. The visitor can freely share the Gospel in a direct way that perhaps the on-site WECcer hasn't yet due to security concerns. However, while acting as translator, the WECer is culture-bound to fully translate what the visitor shares. Thus this 'unreached people group' gets to hear a personal and direct Gospel message from someone their age, with follow-up to take place by the WECer.
In this case, a single retiree or couple can be received at almost any time of the year. One month total for travel to, duration of visit, and return travel, should be planned. Whilst here they have the choice to be hosted by the WECcer, but should anticipate staying in a modern hotel too. As of 2012 it my be possible to rent an apartment too short-term.
Health care and food options are not exotic. However, there are exotic and adventurous meals to be had.
Healthy. Fairly energetic. Comfortable sharing their personal testimony. Comfortable sharing from the Bible. Flexible with planning. Able to pray with eyes open and looking around. Some cross-cultural experience a plus.
Singles, a pair of singles, and married couples over the age of 50.
We are looking for a short or long term Drupal Developer to help with the ongoing development of WEC's inhouse intranet (GRC). You would work alongside our main GRC developer to fix bugs, implement new features, maintain the system, and help with user support.
You need to have some experience with WEB development, preferably with php. You need to be willing to learn fast if you don't have prior experience with drupal.

To manage the accounts of the WEC Chad field. This would not be a full time job and so there would be opportunities to be involved in other areas of mission life/work depending on your skills or abilities. Even administration requires an ability to engage in cross cultural relationships and has the potential for discipling.
Minimum requirements: book-keeping experience. Language needed: English (A knowledge of French would be very helpful and would be required for long term workers.)
Outreach in N'Djamena is fruitful but hampered by (a) lack of workers and (b) the fact that admin needs take people out of ministry. We urgently need workers who are ready and willing to take on the administative side as well as to participate in the outreach. The admin work includes basic office work and accounts and running the accommodation used by people passing through. A couple would be ideal, but a single could cover it. English language primary school available.
Applicants would be expected to become participate fully in the life of the WEC team.
An ability to use French - in the case of a couple, at least one partner should be able to read and speak French. A willingness to learn and to be flexible essential. Professional qualifications are not required, but an aptitude for orgniasation and paperwork is. Applicants should have a passion for reaching the lost. Practical skills would also be extremely useful.
We have a wide open door to work with Arabic speakers and local Arabic is the language of ministry in all our work. There is a wide variety of activities open to applicants but the goal is always to engage with Arabic speaking people and to share the life of Christ with them. Contact us for more details.
A willingness to learn local Arabic. Some exposure to Middle Eastern Arabic an advantage but not a requirement. Complete beginners accepted. For long termers, French is required.
We would like to offer classes for Chadians wishing to learn how to use a computer, including basic software, and email programs. As this is a new ministry for our team, we welcome computer teachers who can provide or develop a curriculum or basic plan for what to teach. Students will mostly be men, both Muslim and non-Muslim. Classes will be small with a maximum of about 10 students per class. The teacher will be responsible for preparing and teaching the lessons. Though we keep a low profile at our Learning Center, there are usually opportunities to share of the Hope we have with our students, whether in or out of class. Male teachers will generally have more opportunity to make contact with students outside of class.
Knowing French and/or Arabic is necessary. Teachers who stay for several months or more will be expected to study some Chadian Arabic in Chad. Being part of the WEC team, they will be expected to be an integral part of the team with the goal of planting a mature, expanding church among the Eastern peoples of Chad.
To participate in a club for children alongside experienced worker. Visit the children's families. Applicants will be expected to learn some Chadian Arabic before arrival - CD supplied. They will be part of the WEC team in Abeche and will be expected to be an integral part of that team with the goal of planting a mature expanding church among the Eastern peoples of Chad.
Experience with working with children. Have a passion for Jesus and good Biblical knowledge. Ability or potential ability to tell bible stories in a culturally appropriate way to children with no Biblical knowledge. Cross-cultural training (minimum - WEC Trek course, if coming out as a short termer). Have a basic understanding and appreciation of folk Islamic belief and culture. A willingness to learn and adapt to a new culture is essential.
To relate to households in N'Djamena, visiting them, sharing the gospel, discipleship and incorporating them into existing cell churches. Work closely with the EET church, which WEC work under, encouraging the southern Christian peoples to also be involved in reaching their neighbours. Applicants will be expected to acquire a good level of Chadian Arabic which they will learn in Chad before learning local language. They will be part of the WEC team in N'Djamena, so will therefore be expected to be an integral part of those teams with the goal of planting a mature expanding church among the Eastern peoples of Chad.
Have a passion for Jesus and unreached people. Mature Christian with good Biblical knowledge. Cross-cultural training. A creativity in thinking up ways of making natural contacts with people in the city. Have a basic understanding and appreciation of folk Islamic belief and culture. French is a pre-requisite for career missionaries on the WEC Chad field. A willingness to learn and adapt to a new culture is essential.
To develop a mobile dental service for people who have never had access to dental care. Providing basic care in a variety of locations alongside non-dentist outreach workers. Applicants will be expected to acquire a good level of Chadian Arabic which they will learn in Chad before and during term of ministry. They will be part of the WEC team in Abeche and will therefore be expected to be an integral part of that team with the goal of planting a mature expanding church among the Eastern peoples of Chad.
Experienced dentist, able to bring equipment and supplies. Ready to network with others who have done this kind of work elsewhere. A good level of French needs to be acuired before arrival. A readiness to learn about cross cultural ministry essential.
English classes for up to 15 adults per class last for 10 weeks. Each session is 1.5 hours and meets twice a week. Students are mostly men, both Muslim and non-Muslim. A teacher usually teaches one or two levels at a time. If two levels, this means teaching four days a week. Lesson sheets, based on the secular curriculum, "English for the Sahel", are already prepared, as are sample lesson plans written out by former teachers. The teacher is thus responsible for preparing and teaching their lessons, marking homework, overseeing a final exam and having a ceremony to hand out certificates. Though we keep a low profile in teaching our English classes, there are some opportunities to share of the Hope we have with our students. Male teachers will generally have more opportunity to make contact with students outside of class. Knowing French and Arabic are assets for an English teacher in Chad, but are not essential. Teachers who stay for several months or more will be expected to study some Chadian Arabic in Chad. Being part of the WEC team, they will be expected to be an integral part of the team with the goal of planting a mature, expanding church among the Eastern peoples of Chad.
A good command of the English language is helpful, though we also accept teachers whose native language is not English. Teaching experience of any kind (Sunday School, Bible studies, etc.) is helpful, but not essential. Knowing French and Arabic are helpful for short term teachers, but are expected to be learned for long-term teachers. We accept both men and woman as teachers, though men will find more opportunity for contact with students, as most students are men.
Training up of believers in various evangelistic and discipleship methods with sensitivity to host culture. Enabling the believers to then train up others. Work closely with the EET church, which WEC works under, encouraging the southern Christian peoples to also be involved in reaching their neighbours. Applicants will be expected to acquire a good level of Chadian Arabic which will they will learn in Chad before and during term of ministry.They will be part of the WEC team and will therefore be expected to be an integral part of that team with the goal of planting a mature expanding church among the Eastern peoples of Chad.
Mature Christian with good Biblical knowledge and Cross-cultural training. Experience in evangelism in oral societies would be an advantage. Experience of or a thorough understanding of the cell church type model of church planting. A good understanding of folk Islamic belief and culture. French is a pre-requisite for career missionaries on the WEC Chad field. A willingness to learn and adapt to a new culture is essential.
Promote and distribute Christian Chadian Arabic literature, cassettes, mp3 files and other forms of Christian media in the Churches and in the wider community. Encourage and train believers in how to use the resources in evangelism and in personal use. Ready to witness whenever the opportunity arises. Applicants will be expected to acquire a good level of Chadian Arabic which they will learn in Chad before and during term of ministry. They will be part of the WEC team in N'Djamena and will therefore be expected to be an integral part of that team with the goal of planting a mature expanding church among the Eastern peoples of Chad.
Have a passion for Jesus and good Biblical knowledge. Some experience in promoting goods and advertising would be helpful. To promote, sell and distribute items in a Chadian culture, relationships are vital thus applicant must have a warm personality that relates well to all kinds of people. Cross-cultural training (minimum - WEC Trek course, if coming out as a short termer). Have a basic understanding and appreciation of folk Islamic belief and culture as well as animistic beliefs and culture. French is a pre-requisite for career missionaries on the WEC Chad field. For this job, Short termers would also need to have a good level of French. A willingness to learn and adapt to a new culture is essential.
Using medical skills to show the compassion of Jesus and to provide a platform from which to share about Jesus. Medical work is only expected to be part time, the rest of the time is for visiting families and contacts to share the gospel, discipleship of new believers and or Bible teaching, depending on gifting. Career and Short term applicants will be expected to acquire a good level of Chadian Arabic which they will learn in Chad before and during term of ministry. They will be in either Abeche or Adre and will therefore be expected to be an integral part of that team with the goal of planting a mature expanding church among the Eastern peoples of Chad.
Medical training of any sort is very welcome here in Chad, from basic heath care workers to Doctors with high expertise! It is one of the poorest countries with very little in the way of medical assistance. Have a passion for Jesus and good Biblical knowledge.
