Long-Term Service

Our definition of long-term service is working with WEC for two years or more—usually more. If this describes you and you’re interested in learning more check out the FAQS below.

  • That you show clear evidence of being born again by the Holy Spirit.
  • That you demonstrate a sincere commitment to serve the Lord.
  • That you agree with our statement of faith, ethos and core values.
  • That you demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the Bible and apply it in your life.
  • That you’ve satisfactorily completed a recognized course of Bible training, or can demonstrate you’ve obtained the equivalent through life experience or informal training. If not, you’ll be required to do so within your first five years on the field.
  • That you’ve achieved a good standard of proficiency in your profession.
  • That you’ve been actively participating in the life of your sending church and its leaders confirm your intention to seek cross-cultural ministry.
  • That you actively share your faith with others.
  • That you’re emotionally stable, and physically and mentally suited for the ministry you’re applying for.
  • That your spouse must also meet these requirements and intend to become a member of WEC.

If you’re a citizen or permanent resident of the United States contact WEC’s USA  Candidate Office to request an application.

If you’re not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States you must apply to the WEC Sending Base nearest to your country of citizenship or residency.

All WEC applicants are carefully screened through their application process. This includes your testimony, call to missions, past ministry and work experience, doctrinal beliefs and medical fitness. References, including one from your primary sending church, are also a very important part of the process.

Application Process

  1. We send out your reference forms, contact your primary sending church and begin praying for you regularly.
  2. We review your primary application and returned references. If everything looks good we send you a formal application.
  3. You complete and submit your formal application at least 3-4 months (if possible) before your scheduled orientation.
  4. You visit our headquarters or meet with a WEC Representative near you if possible.
  5. You send us your prayer requests so we can pray for you more specifically.
  6. We review your application and send you medical, dental and police clearance forms.
  7. You complete and return the medical and dentals forms, and have finger prints made for your police clearance.
  8. We evaluate your returned forms and send you an invitation to attend Candidate Orientation (CO).
  9. You send us your arrival dates and transportation information, and show up on our door step in time for CO.
